The Alliance for A Just Society and Union Theology Seminary are partnering to bring you Cell Blocks & Border Stops. A symposium to deepen and strengthen the relationships between organizing around criminal justice and immigration; develop a shared analysis of the role of race, dehumanization and disposability within both immigration control and mass incarceration; and identify new organizing opportunities and initiatives in these areas centered on personhood and racial justice.
Themes include: Capitalism, Neolibralism & Control; Attacks on Families of Color, Examining Incarceration & Punishment from a religious lens; and What Does the Militarization of Police & Increased Enforcement Mean for Our Work?
Who should attend? The Institute for Pragmatic Practice symposiums brings together organizers, policy makers, academics, journalists and grassroots activists.

Friday evening public plenary event only: $25
*Discounted rates and travel subsidies are offered to Alliance affiliates and credit offered to students of Union. A limited number of scholarships are available to the public.
Mini Meetings in preparation for the large symposium are taking place in Seattle on June 28th and New York August 30-31st.
